About Dr. Ancha

Dr. Ancha is a licensed psychologist in the states of Florida and California. Born and raised in California’s Silicon Valley, Dr. Ancha understands first hand the pressures of high-achieving, fast-paced living, resulting in exhaustion, burn-out and other mental health and behavioral problems.  Dr. Ancha received her Masters and Doctorate degrees from The American Schools of Professional Psychology, San Francisco campus, an American Psychological Association-accredited university.  Dr. Ancha had the unique experience of working at the school’s low cost counseling center, while being trained by trauma experts through a one-way mirror. One way mirror training is live training where therapists develop their abilities in real time. The one-way mirror method of supervision is an excellent method to train psychotherapists. Its positive influences on training candidates and clients are well-documented in studies. Dr. Ancha’s internships involved training in adult and juvenile detention centers, Drug Treatment Court, and both inpatient and outpatient settings with clients across the lifespan.

While completing her postdoctorate fellowship at The Giarretto Institute, a clinic specializing in the comprehensive family systems treatment of incest, Dr. Ancha’s passion for the treatment of co-morbid PTSD and substance abuse bloomed. Dr. Ancha’s career has focused largely on trauma, substance misuse, self-harm, eating disorders, depression and anxiety and she has advanced training in trauma, addiction and women’s issues.
